The Military Health Service is composed of formations, directorates and agencies

Military Health Service formations are as follows:

Rwanda Military Referral and Teaching Hospital;
medical operations support command composed of medical regiments and field medical facilities;
medical regional support command composed of military health facilities.

The Military Health Service has the following responsibilities:

to ensure the health of defence and security organs personnel, their families and the general public;
to contribute to the achievements of the Government’s objectives related to the national healthcare security;
to provide high-quality healthcare to members of Rwanda Defence Force deployed within the country or abroad;
to intervene in humanitarian activities domestically or abroad in the event of a pandemic, disasters, devastating accident or when considered necessary;
to promote the medical education of health professionals at all levels, as well as research and innovation.
