Army

The Army is structured to conduct operations independently and in conjunction with other RDF Services. It also develops and maintains the capacity to operate in special environments.

The Army is structured to conduct operations independently and in conjunction with other RDF Services. It also develops and maintains the capacity to operate in special environments.

Organisation

The Army is composed of combat formations and combat support arms. Each combat formation is organised hierarchically as follows:

  1. Division or equivalent;
  2. Brigade;
  3. Battalion;
  4. Company;
  5. Platoon;
  6. Section.

The combat support arms are:  

  1. Artillery Division; and
  2. Mechanised Division. 

Responsibilties of the Army

The Army has the following responsibilities:

  • to have combat-ready and multi-skilled forces to play a leading role in prompt and sustained offensive and defensive land operations;
  • to cooperate with other security organs in restoring public order and assisting in the enforcement of laws;
  • to intervene in humanitarian activities in case of disasters in the country or abroad in accordance with relevant laws;
  • to contribute to the development of the country;
  • to participate in international peacekeeping, bilateral missions and trainings.
