Air Force
The Rwanda Air Force is one of the services that comprise the Rwanda Defence Force, responsible for defending Rwandan airspace through prompt, sustained offensive and defensive air operations.
Organisation
The Air Force is composed of
- Air Groups;
- Protection Force Brigade; and
- Air Force School
The Air Groups are composed of
- Air Defence Group; and
- Air Support Group.
Each Air Group is composed of
- Wing;
- Squadron;
- Flight; and
- Element
Responsibilties of the Air Force
The Air Force has the following responsibilities:
- to defend Rwandan airspace by providing prompt and sustained offensive and defensive air operations;
- to provide support in humanitarian activities, both domestically and abroad, in case of disasters, search and rescue operations, or firefighting, whenever considered necessary;
- to provide support to civil agencies in the management of air space.
