Rwanda, Tanzania Forces play a friendly football match

Ngoma District, 25 November 2023

Today, Rwanda Defence Force (RDF) 5 Division played a friendly football match against Tanzania People's Defence Force (TPDF) 202 Brigade at Ngoma Stadium in Eastern Province.

The exciting football match attracted local residents in Eastern Province and Ngoma District and their leaders. RDFleadership was represented by Brig Gen Frank Mutembe.

The football match was ended by a draw score 2-2 and proceeded on penalties where TPDF 202 Brigade won (5 to 4).

In his speech after the match, Col Justus Majyambere, RDF 5 Division Commander said that RDF and TPDF have been enjoying various series of activities in defence cooperation.  He emphasised that the friendly football match was another way of enhancing the existing relationship as well as building confidence and trust between armed forces of both countries.

Speaking to Media, Col Ramadhan Athuman Dogoli, the Defence Advisor of the United Republic of Tanzania to Rwanda commended the existing good relationship between TPDF and RDF emphasising on good cooperation in terms of training and operations, especially by working together to ensure security on common border.

Before the football game, both TPDF 202 Bde team and RDF 5 Div team participated in a community work (umuganda) organised by local residents in Ngoma District, Kibungo sector.
