RDF LAUNCHES INTER-FORCE COMPETITION 2025–2026 EDITION

The Rwanda Defence Force (RDF), today officially launched the 2025–2026 Inter-Force Sports Competition, an annual event that brings together different  Formations from across the country.

This year’s edition features multiple disciplines, including football, basketball, volleyball, handball, netball, athletics, and shooting.

A total of 19 teams are taking part in a championship-style tournament divided into four groups. Teams will compete in home-and-away matches, with the top two in each group, across all disciplines, advancing to the next stage of the competition.

During the launch, RDF leadership, present at playgrounds nationwide, urged participants to uphold sportsmanship and camaraderie. They emphasized that the competition aims to boost physical and mental fitness, promote a strong sports culture within the force, enhance cohesion, strengthen combat readiness, and support talent identification.

Results from today’s matches were as follows.

In Football:
Logistics Brigade vs Combat Training Centre Gabiro (2–1), Mechanized Division vs 1st Infantry Division (2–1), Rwanda Military Academy Gako vs  Defence Intelligence Department (1–0), 2nd Infantry Division vs  Rwanda Air Force ( 3–1), 
Special Operations Force vs Engineer Command ( 1–0), Military Police Brigade vs 5th Infantry Division (1–0), 4th Infantry Division vs Task Force Division (3–0 ), Basic Military Training Centre Nasho vs Artillery Division (4–0).

In basketball:

Special Operations Force vs Engineer Command  (62–42).

In volleyball:
Basic Military Training Centre Nasho vs Artillery Division (3–1), Task Force Division vs 4th Infantry Division (3–0).
