RDF COMMAND AND STAFF COLLEGE STUDENTS UNDERTAKE NATIONAL STUDY TOUR

Students from the Rwanda Defence Force Senior Command and Staff College (RDF SCSC), Nyakinama, have commenced a five-day National Study Tour (NST). The tour is being conducted under the theme: “Assessing the Impact of Rwanda’s National Environment and Climate Change Policy on Achieving Sustainable Security and Development.”

The study tour began with a high-level policy briefing delivered by the Minister of Environment, Dr Bernadette Arakwiye, at the Ministry of Defence Headquarters, Kimihurura.

During the session, the Minister provided an overview of Rwanda’s national strategies on environmental protection and climate resilience, underscoring the critical role of climate change policies in promoting a sustainable environment.

The National Study Tour is a key component of the Rwanda Defence Force Command and Staff College (RDFCSC) curriculum. It is designed to achieve one of the College’s primary objectives—developing officers with a comprehensive understanding of national policy frameworks, governance systems, and their implications for security.

Through this programme, participants are offered an opportunity to conduct field research on key national issues, enabling them to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical experience.

This year’s focus on environmental and climate change policy highlights the growing recognition of climate change as a significant factor influencing sustainable security and development, as well as national and regional stability.
