DEPUTY AIR FORCE CHIEF OF STAFF VISITS RWANDAN PEACEKEEPERS IN SOUTH SUDAN

Brigadier General Godfrey Gasana, the Deputy Air Force Chief of Staff of the Rwanda Air Force (RAF), is visiting Rwandan peacekeepers deployed in South Sudan from 31 July to 2 August 2025.

Today, he visited the Rwanda Aviation Unit (RAU), where he was welcomed by Colonel Jacques Nzitonda, the RAU Commander, alongside staff officers and other personnel. Colonel Nzitonda provided a brief overview of the unit’s operations and how they are fulfilling their responsibilities under the UNMISS mandate.

Later, he visited UNMISS Aviation officials and discussed RAU air operations in support of peacekeeping.

He is set to engage with all Rwandan military and police personnel in Juba serving under the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), who are committed to upholding peace and security in South Sudan.

He also visited Rwandan peacekeepers from Rwanbatt-1, where he held discussions with the commanders and staff officers, who provided an overview of their work and contributions to the mission.

While addressing the peacekeepers, Brigadier General Gasana conveyed a message from the RDF leadership, urging them to uphold the RDF spirit and posture to effectively accomplish the UNMISS mandate.
